Bringing The Shroud of Turin Exhibit to Christ Cathedral

Delivering a world-class immersive museum experience is challenging under any conditions. Doing so within an active cathedral campus—while services, weddings, and public events continue uninterrupted and under a compressed schedule tied to a fixed event opening—raises the bar even higher.
The Shroud of Turin Exhibit at Christ Cathedral in Garden Grove required fast decision making, deep collaboration, and careful execution. Here are the key elements that made this one-of-a-kind project possible.

Building Inside a Cathedral Environment
Construction took place within an active cathedral campus that hosts daily church services and large public events. Maintaining a quiet, clean, and respectful environment was non-negotiable. Casco carefully coordinated work activities to minimize noise, control dust, and ensure uninterrupted operations throughout campus.
Fast-Tracked Delivery on a Fixed Deadline
The exhibit was tied to a hard opening date with ticketed events already sold—leaving no flexibility in the schedule. Casco executed a fast-tracked 16-week build-out, coordinating trades and sequencing work with precision to meet the immovable deadline.

Design and Construction in Motion
Key exhibit elements continued to evolve as construction progressed. This design-build-in-motion approach required real-time coordination and rapid decision-making between Casco, the design team, exhibit partners, and the client. Frequent coordination meetings and open communication kept the project moving forward without disrupting schedule or momentum.
Collaborating Across a Diverse Project Team
This project was delivered through a highly collaborative partnership between Casco Contractors, Trestle Companies Construction Management, LPA, and the Diocese of Orange. Casco also worked closely with Othonia, FiveHive Studios, and Shane Grammer Art to integrate fine art, cinematic design, and research-driven storytelling into the built environment.

Adapting in the Field to Bring the Vision to Life
As the exhibit vision continued to evolve, Casco’s field team adapted in real time. Extended work hours, non-traditional scheduling, and hands-on problem-solving allowed the team to execute complex details while maintaining quality and schedule.
A One-of-a-Kind Result
Through collaboration, flexibility, and disciplined execution, The Shroud of Turin Exhibit was delivered on schedule and to the standards expected of a world-class immersive experience. The project demonstrates what’s possible when construction, design, and storytelling teams work together toward a shared vision.
