Casco Chili Cook-Off Raises $70K for Local Charities

On September 23, Casco held its 8th Annual Charity Fundraiser and the return of the crowd-favorite Chili Cook-off. The event was a huge success, raising an impressive $70,000 for two local non-profits, Make-a-Wish Orange County and Inland Empire and the McKenna Claire Foundation.

“Giving back to the community is in our Casco DNA,” says Casco founder and president Cheryl Osborn. “I’m so grateful for everyone who supported this year’s event, from our amazing sponsors to every guest, and, of course, our incredible team who worked so hard to make this year’s event such a success.”

The event, which was held in Lakeview Park in Silverado, featured music by the James Kelly Band, mechanical bull-riding, a drone ball drop, games and much more. Of course, the chili contest itself took centerstage, with 14 savory recipes vying for the top prize. In the end, the Cantoni Plumbing team took home the 2022 title, with Casco’s own Todd Weaver coming in second and Hollencrest Capital Management winning third place.

All proceeds from the event will be split evenly between the two non-profits. “Thank you, Casco Contractors, for the incredible support of our mission and Wish families,” said Marc Sawyer, chief development officer of Make-a-Wish Orange County and Inland Empire.

David Wetzel, co-founder of the McKenna Claire Foundation echoed the appreciation. “You guys absolutely crushed it, helping us fund the science and find the solutions for those kids out their fighting their battles with pediatric brain cancer.”
